School Tours 2017

This year the Junior Room went on their school tour to Turoe Farm, in Bullaun, Co. Galway. Turoe Pet Farm is home to a wide variety of animals including pigs, cockerels, ponies, rabbits, donkeys, goats, ducks, Scottish highland cows, llamas and many more. We had a very exciting day  including a guided tour of the farm and playtime fun in ‘Jungle Town’ and ‘Inflatable City’. We also had a delicious hot lunch and got to have a treat in the picnic area.

The Senior Room went on a tour to Athenry Heritage Centre and Castle. The heritage centre provided all the elements for an educational and fun day out. Children  learned using storyboards and interactive exhibits, while enjoying medieval punishments in the market square stocks. The tour came alive when children (and teachers!) dressed up in medieval costumes and staged a short drama. The children got to play in the wooden maze and take part in an archery competition. A tour guide gave a personal tour of the centre and castle, which included demonstrations of armour and weaponry. Additional activities included tug of war, a visit to the medieval garden and a picnic in the picnic area-altogether a great day out! As a final treat we stopped in the Galway Plaza on the way home for our lunch.
